Protecting your Workplace from Coronavirus
(COVID-19)

Treatment Services

Every business is considering how they can protect their workplace and staff from a potential Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Although lockdown may be slightly relaxed over the coming weeks and months, and staff may start to return to the workplace, we realise that many businesses want to do as much as possible to reduce the likelihood of a potential outbreak. With an estimated 14-day gestation period, and bacteria potentially reported to remain on some surfaces for up to 9 days, the virus spores could spread quickly throughout your workplace if action isn't taken to prevent it from doing so.

Maintaining high standards of cleaning and general hygiene in your workplace has never been more crucial. Every cleaning company should be recommending general cleaning & hygiene practices to minimise the potential effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) to their customers.

By combining regular daily cleaning with a monthly treatment to sanitise and disinfect your workplace can help protect your business for up to 30 days.

Specialist Fogging and Disinfection allows us to treat entire buildings using specialist equipment, known as fogging, combined with a highly effective disinfectant it kills over 99.999% of bacteria and prevents virus spores from adhering to hard and soft surfaces which are frequently touched. This can significantly minimise the potential impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in your workplace.

Using specialist fogging equipment for disinfection purposes kills all but 0.0001% of bacteria and virus spores on all hard and soft surfaces. The process works by filling a room or area(s) with a fine mist of particles between 7-30 microns in size (1micron = 1 thousandth of a millimetre). The particles are so small, they are barely visible, they remain in the air long enough to kill any airborne viral or bacterial contamination (eg MRSA, Norovirus, Clostridium Difficile, Hepatitis B & C). As the particles settle and dry onto all the hard and soft surfaces, even the ones never touched by conventional cleaning, the particles continue to kill any surface contamination for up to 30 days. Our fogging service ensures that harder to reach areas and crevices (eg walls, ceilings, vents, light switches, door handles, toilets, under chairs/desks, telephones, hand rails and other fittings and equipment) and all soft furnishings where bacteria growth can rapidly occur are protected, reducing the potential liability from infections.

The benefits include:
  • Covers large areas quickly and efficiently, minimising downtime within your workplace.
  • Cost effective, reducing the need for repetitive manual cleaning and gets into harder to reach areas manual cleaning can't reach.
  • Provides assurance to staff and visitors to your workplace that the treatment addresses 99.999% (proven bacterial kill rate) providing up to 30 day's protection.

Coronavirus Deep Cleaning following COVID-19 Confirmed Outbreak

If you have a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on your premises, what do you do? You may need to temporarily close your premises and undertake a full deep clean. We realise this can be quite a stressful thought, however we have provided some information below which we hope will help should this situation occur in your workplace and will assist you in how to deal with the situation quickly and effectively.
  1. Have a list of key contacts to phone, this includes the contact for your cleaning service provider. The more information you can glean the better the response can be. The very minimum information you should determine includes:
    • Who the COVID-19 carrier was and when they were last on your premises (i.e. dates, timelines, etc.);
    • What areas the COVID-19 carrier was in (please remember to consider entrances & corridors throughout the building which the carrier may have touched switches, banisters, doors etc).
    • If the carrier was in any areas of human congregation (ie meeting rooms; canteen/locker areas, kitchens);
    • If the carrier was in any distribution/retail/warehouse areas please try to get as much information as you can of locations throughout these environments.
    • If the carrier used any hygiene facilities (ie WCs, showers, hand washing/ hand sanitiser stations etc).
    • If the carrier used any first aid facilities on site.
Confirming the information above will help ensure that proper cleaning and disinfection can begin as soon as possible. Respect the health and safety of your cleaning staff and do not ask them to clean an area if you think it has been infected by someone with COVID-19. This will put them at risk f a highly infectious virus. The area must be cleaned using proper precautions and different cleaning agents, as well as the essential required PPE (the cleaning team will be required to wear full PPE ie hooded coveralls, overshoes, gloves, safety goggles, face masks ; all cloths and disposable PPE used will required to be fully disposed off in double bagged waste).
  2. The recommendation for deep cleaning is to allow, where possible a minimum of 24 hours up to 72 hours before undertaking a deep clean to allow some of the COVID-19 bacteria to reduce. This reduces the risk to the cleaning team or anyone else attending the deep clean. Whilst we understand that customers want to get their premises back up and running as quickly as possible, please bear in mind that there are risks associated to the cleaning teams attending and therefore the appropriate guidance will be followed.
  3. A full deep clean comprises of a two stage cleaning process which entails:

Stage 1: Wipe down all touch and hard surfaces with a general disinfectant; virucidal cleaner or diluted sodium hypochlorite solution. The frequently touched surfaces within your premises are likely to include the following:
    • Desktops and work surfaces.
    • Doorknobs, doorplates & handles.
    • Light switches.
    • Computer keyboards / Mouse.
    • Telephone equipment.
    • Chairs.
    • Canteen furniture.
    • Sinks and kitchens.
    • Toilets - Taps / Flushers / Dispensers.
    • Water fountains.
    • Vending machines.
    • Tablets and digital devices.
    • Lifts and escalators.
    • Handrails.
Stage 2: Carry out a second stage clean. This can be done manually or by using a fogging service throughout your building using approved anti-microbial disinfectants / virucidal biocides (Fogging kills all but 0.0001% of bacteria and virus spores). The benefits of fogging are clear: it ensures that harder to reach areas and crevices (eg walls, ceilings, vents, light switches, door handles, toilets, under chairs/desks, telephones, hand rails and other fittings and equipment) and all soft furnishings where bacteria growth can rapidly occur are protected, reducing the potential liability from infections.

After the decontamination cleaning your premises has finished, the areas cleaned should be left for between 3-4 hours to allow the fogging particles to dissipate, after which it can be used and will be protected for up to 30 days.
