Hello Scotland, Chanel Fashion Show, Event Cleaning
Client: Hello Scotland Project: Chanel Métiers d'Arts Fashion Show, Linlithgow Palace Duration of Work: November - December 2012 (approx 4 weeks) Client Contact: Gillian Fergusson Testimonial: I was exceptionally pleased with the cleaning team, thank you very much to you and your team for all their hard work! |
Shine Cleaning Solutions were asked to provide a team of cleaners to undertake general cleaning works during the construction phase, on the day of the show and during the dismantling phase of the works. The cleaning team were on site for approx 4 weeks from mid November through to mid December 2012.
A team of cleaners were provided over a 4 week period. Cleaning was undertaken 7 days a week within the 3 main areas of the site. The cleaning team provided ranged in size from 3-6 staff daily, increasing to a team of 24 staff plus management for show day on Tuesday 5th December.
Cleaning works included cleaning up work areas around construction and trades assembling the set within the Palace where staging, seating and a roof structure was being built; at the Peel where the large glass marquis structure was being built; in a workshop area; in the courtyard; and servicing the toilet areas across the site. Cleaning works were also carried out off site at a storage area.
On the day of the event, a 24 strong cleaning team made sure that every area was thoroughly cleaned. The workshop which had been full of sawdust was transformed into a beautiful hair & make-up area, the rooms in the depths of the castle became opulent changing areas, and the glazed marquis was spectacularly dressed for a medieval banquet. All these areas had to be fully cleaned leaving no trace of the 3 weeks of construction that had just been undertaken. The Palace had been transformed into a fabulous medieval inspired set and although it was freezing, and it started to snow just before the start of the show, the cleaning team put in an amazing effort to meet the client's expectations.
Challenges
The event threw up a few challenges, the main one being the extremely cold weather conditions. Sawdust froze to the wooden platforms being built, cleaning had to be done with extreme caution around the construction teams on site and to suit daily weather conditions. A burst water pipe flooded the kitchen area, however wet pick ups on site ensured excess water was quickly and efficiently dealt with within 15 minutes. Daily challenges were quickly met with the management team from Shine Cleaning Solutions attending site daily and having regular communication with the onsite cleaning supervisor(s) and regular client/contractor meetings.
